Serving Amador County since the early 1850's, the Ione Hotel is an icon of the wild days of the California Gold Rush. The hotel was originally built to house miners and serve as a stagecoach depot for supplies and everyday commerce. Founded before the California gold rush, Ione is a town rich with history.

Today the Ione Hotel is the home of the Ione Steakhouse & Bar, Smoke in the Bottle Wine and Cigars, as well as offering luxury accommodations. 

An Amador County Restaurant, the Ione Steakhouse serves only Certified Angus Beef. Everything from our restaurant is made fresh in house, including our soups and breads.  With a full menu of homecooked wares you can enjoy a delicious meal at the end of a perfect day in the California Gold Country.

Tour the Gold Country

If you are visiting the area, it's location makes the Ione Hotel is the perfect home base for exploring the areas many notable winery's and attractions.
In Ione you can tour the famous Preston Castle or play a round of golf at the beautiful Castle Oaks Golf Course. Close by is Lake Camanchee for fishing and outdoor recreation, and several other lakes.

The historical towns of Amador City, Sutter Creek, Volcano and Jackson are all just a few minutes away where you can poke around the myriad antique stores, have lunch at an outdoor cafe, take an underground tour of an active gold mine or try your luck at the Jackson Rancheria Casino.
